Chris Oakley MRICS
Executive Chairman

Having founded Oakley Commercial in 1993, Chris has guided the company to grow into what is now one of the largest commercial and residential property consultancies in the Sussex area.

He started his property career in 1983 when he joined a Lewes based multi disciplined firm of Chartered Surveyors, upon leaving sixth form. Chris obtained a broad cross section of experience but was attracted to commercial property, which is where he focused his career. Studying by day release Chris qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1990. Chris is Brighton born and bred, although now lives in Lewes, enjoys various sports and boating.

Responsible for overseeing the growth and management of the company, he is still passionate about doing deals, with notable transactions and Clients.

Tim Crossfield BSc MRICS
Managing Director

Tim is the director in charge of the company's Valuation, Management and Landlord and Tenant departments having joined Oakley Commercial in 1998. Tim has been practising as a Chartered Surveyor in the Sussex area for the last 15 years and specialises in the provision of advice to both landlords and tenants in relation to lease renewals and rent reviews, covering a wide variety of commercial property types.

Steven Harvey
Commercial Director

Steven has been in the local commercial property market for over 25 years, having recently been a partner at a Brighton based commercial agency practice until January 2013 when he joined Oakley Commercial as a director.

He is locally based having been born in Shoreham and is a keen sportsman and Brighton & Hove Albion Season Ticket holder. Steven has a wide ranging knowledge across the commercial sectors with particular expertise within the Business Space sector. Steven advises on a leasehold & freehold acquisitions and disposals, development appraisals, site assembly and land sales. Recent clients have included Shoreham Port Authority, East Sussex County Council, Lewes District Council, St Modwen, Qualifa, Legal and General Investment Management, Cross Stone and various private property companies and private individuals.

James Epps
Residential Sales Director

James is the residential director and has been an integral part of the Oakley's expansion since joining in 2004. Managing the Brighton & Hove city centre office, James's welcoming, professional and efficient manner is echoed by his team. Born in Brighton & Hove, his enthusiasm for property and his hometown have seen him working in residential & commercial agency since 1994. James's passion for maintaining & improving standards within the industry lead to him joining the Brighton & Hove Estate Agents Association (www.bheaa.com) and to him becoming the 2013 President of the association.

Ben Pettett
Commercial Agent

Ben joined our agency team in May 2010. Ben has been involved in commercial property and business transfer since 1997 having previously had a role with another local firm based in Hove and specialising in commercial property. Ben deals with all types of properties in Brighton, Mid Sussex and along the south coast. Clients include Coutts & Co Trustees, Rocc Computers along with many private individuals. Ben currently lives in Lancing and has worked in Brighton & Hove, Shoreham areas for all of his professional life. He is an avid Newcastle United fan.

Isabelle joined the team in March 2017. She fulfils the very important dual role of administrator to our commercial team and receptionist in our head office. Isabelle's excellent customer service skills further strengthen the department by allowing her to undertake some of the essential tasks required during the commercial sale/letting process whilst also organising the busy day to day needs of the team. Born in Germany, Isabelle moved to Brighton from an early age which gives her an excellent knowledge of the local area.

Simon Cox
Sales Manager

Simon has worked in both residential and commercial property throughout Sussex since 1997 gaining valuable knowledge and experience of the property market. Upon leaving school, Simon undertook an apprenticeship and gained his City and Guilds in Carpentry and Joinery working with James Longley in Crawley for 11 years. Simon then moved into the residential property market in 1997 starting his career in Haywards Heath where he progressed to a managerial position in Burgess Hill. Simon transferred to Brighton & Hove in 2002 working in the residential & commercial sectors, which lead to him joining the experienced team at Oakley in 2009. Simon is now Sales Manager for the Brighton & Hove office. Simon lives in Hove and enjoys the gym, cycling and running with his dog on the South Downs.

Russell joined the Oakley team in 2013 having worked in the industry since 2006 across the Brighton area where he developed a broad knowledge & experience of the industry. Russell takes the time to assist our clients with helping to make the moving process as stress free as possible and is on hand to offer a professional friendly customer advice. When Russell is not working, he likes to burn off steam with his hobby of motor racing.

David is born and bred in Sussex and has great knowledge and passion for the local market. David started his career as a junior negotiator with a small but well established independent agency over 12 years ago.

Over the years David has worked hard on a variety of property types from sea front apartments, brand new developments and country homes showing an ability to adapt to every sector of the market. The personal approach is extremely important to David which is appreciated by both clients and colleagues alike.

Over the last couple of years Richard has matured in to a well rounded Estate Agent dealing with a diverse property portfolio from new homes to country estates. Richards main job is looking after potential buyers and having lived locally all is life he offers superb local knowledge and insight.

Murray is a through and through Brightonian. Born in the Sussex County Hospital, and knows the City and local housing market like the back of his hand. Murray started his career as a negotiator with a local sales and lettings agent, which quickly taught him what was required to succeed within both sides of the business. Murray spent the best part of 6 years heading up the lettings team for one of Kemp Town’s most popular Estate Agents, where he learned that good ethics and honesty are always the best policies.

Murray enjoys a round of golf when he can fit that in around his two young sons, and is a lifelong Brighton & Hove Albion fan.

Andy has recently joined the team and offers excellent property knowledge and maintenance savvy. Coming from a property insurance background Andy is more than used to dealing with contractors, tenants, and owners, to ensure maintenance issues are dealt with both effectively and efficiently. He also knows his way around a property, so he will be able to feedback and explain most situations in a way which will help you to understand any issues straight away, and has a qualification in ventilation and damp prevention. Andy is also a born Brightonian and in his spare time likes to follow the local football team and get involved in a bit of D.I.Y.

Having joined the company back in 2013 Annemarie has gone from strength to strength and has really grown into her role within the financial element of the lettings department. Being a team leader in her previous job put her in good stead, giving her the organization and the communication skills required in this busy lettings environment. Annemarie also works closely with Murray to ensure that all of the properties are let as soon as possible, and all the important documents are ready for tenants and landlords when required. In her spare time Annemarie enjoys the quiet life, spending time with friend and family, but can be easily be tempted with a Cocktail or two!

Matthew works in our professional services and management team, specifically dealing with Valuations, Lease Renewals and Rent Reviews. Matthew has worked in the property industry since 1999, originally as a residential agent whilst completing a Land Management Degree at the University of Portsmouth, before moving into the commercial sector in 2005 and running a commercial agency department. Matthew joined Oakley Commercial in 2011 working initially as commercial agent dealing with commercial sales, lettings, acquisitions and business transfers, before qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor in 2013.

Beth Wardle LLB (Hons)
Property Manager

Beth has worked as a Property Manager since graduating from University with a Law Degree in 2011. In this time she has become an Associate of the Institute of Residential Property Managers and is currently working towards Member status.

Beth specialises in the management of residential properties and has managed a wide variety of properties from small Victorian conversions to large purpose-built blocks as well as mixed use developments including commercial units, and mixed tenure sites including freehold houses. As a result, she has experience dealing with a range of clients including third party freeholders and Residents Management Companies. Beth has been responsible for overseeing major section 20 works, chairing AGM meetings, preparing annual budgets and managing onsite staff.

Beth is also experienced in estate management setting up maintenance contracts as each new phase is released and acting as the main liaison between developers and purchasers.

Alison works as the management department accountant and is responsible for the day to day accounting for all of the commercial properties. She has 20 years experience in accounting, most of which were gained within the legal sector. She also has experience in residential estate agency and residential and commercial conveyancing. Alison has various accounting qualifications and is also a part qualified licensed conveyancer.
